Free-Flow Hydro Power Systems

Free-Flow Hydro Power Systems

UDRR-based hydrokinetic turbines can be used for harvesting energy of free-flowing water from hydropower station spillways, dams, canals, river or creek streams, and inshore tidal flows. Several similar technologies exist, but we believe that Tidewind hydrokinetic turbine systems are more effective, less expensive to manufacture and install by placing them on floating platforms and anchoring them to the shore or to the river bottom, or by deploying them at or near existing infrastructures like bridges and wharves.

Our hydrokinetic turbines are capable of operating in a variety of flow rates, making them deployable in the greatest range of locations around the world. Even at low flow rates of less than 2 knots (1.0 m/sec), the Tidewind turbine is able to produce electricity cost-effectively.

Our free-flow hydropower generation turbines offer the following benefits:
  • ● Simple yet innovative design with minimum rotating parts.
  • ● Absence of additional control systems like yaw and blade pitch control systems normally used in other hydro power generators. It results in higher reliability of our systems.
  • ● Lower production costs due to using modern manufacturing technologies and materials for system production.
  • ● Safe for the environment and any form of river life, including any size of fish or mammals.
  • ● Lower supporting structure construction and installation costs.
  • ● Overall lower initial investment is required.
  • ● Low cut-in speed and high torque in low-speed water flow conditions.
  • ● Reliable work in water flow with debris, weed, and sediment contamination.
  • ● Reliable, easy to repair and service system.
  • ● Low repair and maintenance costs.
  • ● Easy and less costly to remove and recycle at the end of service life.
